Patna, April 8: Political activity in Bihar has intensified following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s election to the Rajya Sabha and his resignation from the Legislative Council. Discussions regarding the new Chief Minister’s appointment are heating up.
In this context, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, a minister close to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, confirmed on Wednesday that the NDA meeting will establish the formula for forming the new government.
During a media interaction, Minister Chaudhary addressed topics ranging from Nitish Kumar’s Rajya Sabha membership to potential candidates for the Chief Minister position. He noted that since Kumar has been elected to the Rajya Sabha, it is natural for him to take the oath as a member.
Chaudhary mentioned that the Chief Minister will travel to Delhi on Thursday and take the oath as a Rajya Sabha member on Friday.
When asked about the government formation, he stated, “When Nitish Kumar resigns from the Chief Minister position, leaders from all NDA parties will meet to discuss and make decisions. After that, the government will be formed. It’s a straightforward process.”
In a light-hearted manner, he joked with reporters about the race for Chief Minister, saying, “Everyone you mention is in the running for the Chief Minister position.”
Following Nitish Kumar’s election to the Rajya Sabha, there is speculation about his resignation as Chief Minister. Discussions are also underway regarding the BJP potentially appointing a Chief Minister while the JD(U) may receive the Deputy Chief Minister role. If this occurs, it would mark the first time the BJP has a Chief Minister in Bihar.
