Mumbai, June 22: Anand Dubey, spokesperson for Shiv Sena (UBT), has criticized the central and Uttar Pradesh governments over the alleged misuse and mismanagement of donations received for the Ram Temple. He claimed that millions of devotees donate their hard-earned money in the name of Lord Ram, believing it will be used for social welfare and public service. However, allegations of misuse and irregularities have emerged.
In an exclusive interview with a news agency on Monday, Dubey stated that during and after the Mahakumbh 2025, devotees from across the country contributed millions of rupees out of faith in Lord Ram. People expect this money to be used for building hospitals, opening schools, providing food for the poor, and assisting marginalized communities. Yet, serious questions are being raised about the management of these donations.
He alleged that discussions about the mismanagement and misuse of funds related to the temple have been ongoing, but accountability seems lacking. Dubey pointed out that when questions arise, there are no clear responses from Nripeendra Mishra, the head of the temple construction committee, or Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Questioning the investigation process, the Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson alleged that those accused and connected to investigative agencies are linked to the ruling party, making impartial investigations unlikely. He remarked that if this situation had occurred under a non-BJP government, the involved individuals would have already been arrested. Despite the emergence of such a significant alleged scam under the government’s nose, accountability remains elusive. Politics is being played in the name of Lord Ram, and given the seriousness of the matter, a fair investigation is warranted.
Additionally, Anand Dubey expressed his party’s stance on the alleged Operation Tiger, Operation Lotus, and discussions around political defections in Maharashtra. He clearly stated that Shiv Sena (UBT) does not support any form of political sabotage, corruption, or campaigns aimed at gaining power. The party’s sole objective is to serve the public, and it continues to pursue this path.
Recalling the split in Shiv Sena in 2022, he noted that following that political upheaval, the party was compelled to adopt a new name and election symbol. Nevertheless, the party did not give up and maintained its connection with the public. He claimed that despite numerous challenges, Shiv Sena (UBT) succeeded in sending nine MPs to Parliament in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Targeting Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, he stated that both leaders are well aware of where the public’s inclination lies. Dubey asserted that if the ruling party wishes to test its political strength, it has every right to do so. However, Shiv Sena (UBT) will continue to convey its message to the public and fight its battle democratically.
