Mumbai, June 22: Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), faced a significant setback when six rebel MPs joined Shiv Sena in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Shinde declared that ‘Operation Tiger’ has been successful.
In a media interaction, Deputy CM Eknath Shinde stated, “I have said everything in the press conference. ‘Operation Tiger’ has succeeded.”
Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde welcomed the six MPs into the Shiv Sena family, emphasizing that their arrival has considerably strengthened the party.
Minister Shambhuraj Desai remarked that the MPs who joined today should not be labeled as rebels. They have taken a stand for their constituencies and the issues they promised to address during the elections. However, the party leadership did not support them. Consequently, they decided to join Shinde’s leadership for the welfare of their Lok Sabha constituencies. “We welcome them and will work to strengthen Shiv Sena,” he added.
Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad noted that everyone is concerned about their political security and their ability to serve the public in the future. If party leaders do not engage with them, what options do they have? With the addition of these six MPs, Shiv Sena is emerging as the number one party in Maharashtra in terms of MPs.
He explained that these six MPs were elected two years ago and wanted to serve the public, but their party leadership did not support them. They chose to align with Eknath Shinde for development.
Shiv Sena MP Jyoti Waghmare stated that the people of Maharashtra have placed their trust in Eknath Shinde’s leadership, as he meets with the public, understands their grievances, and empowers them. In contrast, UBT leaders do not even step outside their homes. “We welcome everyone,” she concluded.
NCP leader Zeeshan Siddiqui added, “I just want to say that if any representative is unhappy in their party because they are not given a chance to speak or reach the top leadership, they will naturally seek a place where they will be heard.”
