New Delhi, June 22: The political landscape in Uttar Pradesh is heating up as the assembly elections approach. Congress MP Imran Masood has sharply criticized Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav‘s recent comments regarding preparations for all 403 assembly seats in the state.
Masood expressed his disagreement with Yadav’s statements, stating that all parties are working on their political strategies and such remarks do not befit prominent leaders.
In an interview with a news agency, Masood remarked, “I fail to understand why such comments are being made. You prepare your party, and we will prepare ours. You are a significant leader, and such statements do not suit you.”
During the discussion, Masood also highlighted issues concerning the Muslim community in Uttar Pradesh. He noted that the SP leadership’s silence on alleged incidents affecting Muslims has become a topic of public discourse.
He stated, “There is oppression against Muslims in Uttar Pradesh, yet we do not see the expected vocal response on this issue. Your silence is puzzling to the Muslim community.”
Masood further pointed out the inconsistency in Yadav’s statements, saying, “You openly speak about issues like the alleged embezzlement of funds for the Ram temple, yet remain silent on the injustices faced by Muslims. This is perplexing.”
When asked about the potential for an alliance between Congress and the Samajwadi Party in the future, Masood clarified that the final decision would be made by the party leadership. He emphasized his role as a disciplined party worker, stating, “I am a dedicated soldier of the party, and whatever decision is made by the party will be paramount for me.”
