CBI Takes Action in Bribery Case, Arrests Assistant Engineer and Two Others

New Delhi, July 28: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has launched a significant operation in a bribery case. The agency has arrested an Assistant Engineer from the Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) along with two other individuals.

The CBI apprehended the Assistant Engineer and a representative from Koura Construction Company, located in Rohini, New Delhi, along with one of the firm’s employees.

On July 27, the agency registered a case against the accused. Allegations state that the Assistant Engineer misused his position by providing undue official benefits to a government contractor associated with Koura Construction for various construction projects assigned to him.

In exchange for these official favors, the Assistant Engineer was reportedly receiving illegal bribes and other improper benefits from the private firm’s representative. This representative facilitated the payment of bribes through various means to the accused Assistant Engineer.

On July 27, under a criminal conspiracy, the private firm’s representative instructed his employee to deliver ₹2.1 million to the Assistant Engineer at his residence in Pitampura, New Delhi.

The CBI conducted a raid at the Assistant Engineer’s home and seized the ₹2.1 million in cash that was handed over by the employee. Additionally, various incriminating documents and ₹1.55 million in cash were confiscated, bringing the total cash recovered to ₹4.675 million.
