New Delhi, February 20: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has sharply criticized the Delhi BJP government‘s first year in office, labeling it a failure on all fronts. AAP leader Manish Sisodia stated that the government’s tenure has been marked by “deception against the people of Delhi.”

Sisodia accused Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s administration of betraying women, youth, the middle class, the poor, and public services. He highlighted that a poster reading “One Year, Delhi in Distress, Remembering Kejriwal” was unveiled during the event, attended by Delhi Pradesh President Saurabh Bhardwaj and MLA Kuldeep Kumar.

He pointed out that before the elections, the BJP promised to provide women in Delhi with ₹2,500 monthly, claiming payments would start on March 8, 2025. However, a year has passed without any funds reaching women’s accounts.

Sisodia further alleged that Delhi has suffered from historically poor air quality. He claimed the government manipulated AQI data by relocating monitoring centers and spraying water around them. Regarding the cleaning of the Yamuna River, he stated that the public was misled by showcasing a “fake Yamuna.”

He criticized the BJP government for allowing private schools to raise fees by 30% to 80%, while no strict action was taken against them. He noted that the budget for government schools was slashed, and projects like the ‘School of Specialized Excellence’ were discontinued.

According to Sisodia, initiatives launched during former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s tenure, such as the ‘Happiness Curriculum‘ and ‘Entrepreneurship Curriculum,’ have also been halted. He claimed that over 100,000 temporary employees were laid off, and thousands were left unemployed despite promises to secure bus marshals’ jobs. He also mentioned the closure of Mohalla Clinics and the suspension of free medicines and tests in hospitals.

Sisodia asserted that contrary to the promise of “Housing where there are Slums,” the government has launched a campaign to remove slums. Approximately 800,000 ration cards have been canceled, and pensions for widows and the elderly have been halted.

He reported that in the first 15 days of January, 800 people went missing, and several murders occurred within 24 hours. He criticized the government for the persistent issues of potholes, overflowing sewers, and garbage piles, attributing these to its failures. Sisodia concluded that the current government’s first year has left Delhi in distress, prompting the public to reminisce about Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership.
