Indore, June 20: A tragic incident has emerged from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, where a 21-year-old student preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) fell from the fourth floor of a building. This incident occurred just days before the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, scheduled for June 21.
According to Amarendra Singh, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), the student, identified as Avantika, was residing in a rented accommodation in Ganesh Nagar Colony. Originally from Dhar district, she was pursuing her studies while preparing for the NEET exam.
Initial investigations suggest that Avantika may have jumped from the building, but authorities are still determining whether it was a suicide or if someone pushed her. Currently, no suicide note has been found, and police are interviewing her family and other residents of the building to gather more information.
The police have launched an investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding her death. They are also looking into whether Avantika lived alone or had company during her stay.
As the investigation unfolds, further legal actions will be taken based on the findings.
