New Delhi, August 5: The police have detained a man accused of assaulting a woman at a mall in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Authorities reported that the incident, captured in a video that went viral on social media, prompted immediate police action.
According to Ghaziabad police, the altercation occurred at the Jaipuria Mall in the Indirapuram area. The video, which surfaced on social media on Tuesday evening, shows a heated argument between a man and a woman, during which the man allegedly assaulted the woman.
Following the incident, the Indirapuram police quickly launched an investigation to confirm the details and identify those involved. The police confirmed that the incident took place at Jaipuria Mall and discovered that the man and woman were previously acquainted. Officials stated that the argument stemmed from a personal dispute, which escalated into physical violence.
After the preliminary investigation, the Indirapuram police registered a case against the accused under relevant legal provisions and took him into custody. Authorities indicated that further legal actions are underway.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Surya Bali Maurya stated that the police acted promptly after taking note of the viral video. In a statement, the ACP said, “The viral video was investigated immediately, leading to the confirmation of the incident. A case has been registered under the relevant legal provisions, and the accused has been detained. Further legal action is ongoing.”
Currently, the identities of both the accused and the woman have not been disclosed by the police. Additionally, the nature of their relationship remains unclear.
