Tragic Incident in Bihar: Two Girls Drown While Bathing in River

Patna, August 28: A tragic incident occurred in Bhagalpur district of Bihar on Friday, where two girls drowned while bathing in a river, leaving their families in shock.

Around 11:30 AM, two other girls who were bathing with them raised an alarm, prompting family members and locals to rush to the scene and initiate a search operation.

Villagers informed the police and local administration, leading to an organized rescue effort. After considerable effort, two girls were retrieved from the water, but unfortunately, they had already passed away. The search for a third girl continued.

The deceased were identified as Monali Kumari (17), a 10th-grade student from Budhchak High School, and Chanda Kumari (16), an 8th-grade student from Olni Tola Middle School. Both were daughters of Munna Paswan from Olni Tola.

The third girl, Abhilasha Kumari (8), daughter of Arvind Paswan and a 4th-grade student at Olni Tola Middle School, remained missing at the time of this report.

According to local residents, the three girls had gone to the river at Margang Ghat in Olni Tola with two other girls to bathe, coinciding with the Raksha Bandhan festival. Reports indicate that they were swept away by strong currents. The two surviving girls attempted to help and raised an alarm.

Villagers then entered the water and recovered the bodies of Monali and Chanda. Rescue efforts to locate Abhilasha continued with the assistance of local residents, police, and administrative officials.

This incident cast a shadow over the village on what was supposed to be a festive day. The families of the three girls were in deep shock, with their mothers, Rani Devi and Kranti Devi, reportedly devastated. Their brothers, who were preparing to celebrate Raksha Bandhan, found the festive atmosphere turned into one of mourning.

Mukhiya representative Sukesh Yadav, Circle Officer Chandrashekhar Kumar, and Block Development Officer Abhimanyu Kumar also arrived at the scene to assess the rescue operations. Police and administrative officials remained present as the search for the missing girl continued.
