Chandigarh, August 29: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Punjab has issued show-cause notices to three leaders for alleged violations of party discipline and organizational decorum. This action follows statements made during a press conference held on August 25, 2026, in Sangrur.
The leaders receiving the notices include Randeep Singh Deol (former district president, BJP Sangrur), Maninder Singh Kapial (former district president, BJP Sangrur), and Jatinder Kalra (former state sales coordinator, BJP Punjab).
According to the notice, these leaders participated in the press conference and reportedly made statements regarding the party’s internal matters and organizational issues that were inconsistent with the BJP’s established policies and discipline.
The disciplinary committee stated that, prima facie, these statements have harmed the party’s image, credibility, and organizational reputation. The BJP organization is taking this matter seriously and has requested written responses from the three leaders within seven days of receiving the notice. They are asked to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against them for violating party discipline and damaging the party’s image.
The notice also requires the leaders to provide clear information about their roles in the press conference, the statements they made, and the purpose of holding the press conference.
The BJP has warned that if no response is received within the stipulated timeframe, appropriate disciplinary action may be taken without any further notice, in accordance with the party’s constitution and rules.
These show-cause notices were issued by Som Prakash, Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, and the BJP Punjab. The committee has instructed the three leaders to submit their written explanations within seven days.
