Shamli, August 29: The murder of Haryanvi singer Ankit Baliyan has ignited political tensions. On Friday, Samajwadi Party MP Ikra Hasan and her brother, local MLA Nahid Hasan, visited the grieving family at their home.
The leaders offered their condolences and gathered details about the tragic incident. The family, in tears, recounted how Ankit was brutally killed and expressed their hope for justice.
During the visit, MP Ikra Hasan facilitated a phone call between the family and Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister. Yadav expressed his sorrow over the incident and assured the family that the party would support them in their quest for justice. He emphasized that the Samajwadi Party would take every possible measure to assist them.
Ikra Hasan criticized the deteriorating law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, stating that the government remains silent while artists and ordinary citizens are murdered. She pledged that the party would raise this issue in the assembly and on the streets.
Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav claimed that the entire Jat community in Uttar Pradesh is outraged. He posted on X, “The brutal murder of popular singer Ankit Baliyan, shot 18 times, has instilled fear across the region.”
He further noted, “It is heartbreaking to see the deceased’s mother mourning her son’s body on the street. The Jat community has demanded the arrest of the attackers. They perceive this incident as an attack on their community. There are calls for a political investigation into this murder, which is utterly condemnable.”
It is important to note that Ankit Baliyan was shot dead on Wednesday in Shamli district, with 18 bullets fired at him.
