Raksha Bandhan Celebrations Highlight Bonds of Brotherhood in Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi, August 29: The festival of Raksha Bandhan brought forth numerous displays of love and trust between brothers and sisters across Uttar Pradesh. In Siddharthnagar, BJP MP Jagdambika Pal celebrated the occasion with hundreds of sisters, while in Saharanpur, Congress MP Imran Masood honored his sister, Pooja Bhatia, by tying a rakhi, maintaining a 31-year-old sibling bond.

A special event was held at the Mahant Avadyanath Auditorium in Siddharthnagar to mark Raksha Bandhan. A large number of women tied rakhis on MP Jagdambika Pal’s wrist. He expressed his sentiments by referring to the women as part of his family and wished them well for the festival. During the event, he greeted the women and honored them with sweets and gifts. Information about free bus travel for women was also shared.

Jagdambika Pal described Raksha Bandhan as an emotional and sacred festival that symbolizes the brother-sister relationship. He noted that there is perhaps no other festival in the world that embodies the spirit of connecting generations through a sacred thread. When a sister ties a rakhi on her brother’s wrist, he pledges to protect her. Many women tied rakhis on him, expressing their belief that he would work for their future.

Meanwhile, in Saharanpur, Congress MP Imran Masood celebrated Raksha Bandhan with his sister Pooja Bhatia, a bond that has lasted nearly 31 years. Each year, Pooja ties a rakhi on Imran, continuing this cherished tradition.

Imran Masood shared that he has been receiving rakhis from Pooja for the past 31 years. He recalled that when she mentioned she had no brother, he offered to be her brother. This bond has only strengthened over the years, and he visits her every Raksha Bandhan. Pooja eagerly looks forward to this day each year.

Pooja Bhatia expressed her happiness regarding their relationship, wishing for it to last a lifetime. She noted that their bond formed unexpectedly when Imran offered to be her brother after she mentioned her lack of one. Since then, she has tied rakhis on him every year.
