Agar-Malwa, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan has expressed profound sorrow over a tragic road accident near the Maa Baglamukhi Temple in Agar-Malwa, Madhya Pradesh. He extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the peace of the departed souls.
In a post on the social media platform X, Radhakrishnan stated, “I am deeply saddened by the unfortunate accident in Agar-Malwa, Madhya Pradesh. My heartfelt sympathies are with the families who have lost their loved ones.”
Earlier, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced a compensation of ₹4 lakh for each of the eight victims’ families. Among the deceased were three children, two women, and the car driver. The Chief Minister instructed officials to provide all possible assistance to the grieving families.
Yadav also shared his sorrow on X, lamenting the loss of lives among pilgrims visiting from Odisha. He assured that the state government stands with the affected families and will offer necessary support.
According to police reports, the accident occurred around 3 a.m. on Saturday near the Maa Baglamukhi Temple in Nalkheda. Due to heavy rainfall, the car carrying the pilgrims was swept away in a flooded drain. Initial investigations suggest drowning as the cause of death.
Dilip Kumar Soni, the Superintendent of Police for Agar-Malwa, stated that authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the temple and surrounding areas to understand the sequence of events.
Among the victims, seven were residents of Odisha, while the driver, Arun Goyal, hailed from Barod in Agar-Malwa district. The group had rented a car to visit the temple after traveling from Ujjain.
Identified victims include Arun Goyal, Radha Rani Behera, Gyanendra Kumar Behera, Rita Rani Behera, Krishna Rajveer, and Shivprasad Behera.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi also expressed his condolences, instructing officials to coordinate with the Madhya Pradesh government and local authorities to arrange for the respectful return of the deceased to Odisha.
Following the accident, local residents in Nalkheda protested against the administration, blocking roads at Ambedkar Chowk and closing several shops in the area. Police and administrative officials were deployed to the scene to maintain order.
