Support for TB Patients and Flood Victims in Bhagalpur

Bhagalpur, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : In Bhagalpur, various programs were held on Saturday to assist those in need. Under the TB Free India campaign, the Marwari Seva Samiti distributed food baskets to 25 tuberculosis patients. Additionally, the district administration provided a total of 280 relief kits to flood victims residing at Mahashay Dudhri and Bal Niketan.

The Marwari Seva Samiti aimed to enhance nutrition for TB patients undergoing treatment by distributing food baskets. Key members of the committee, including Sajjan Kumar Kishorpuriya, Ram Gopal Poddar, Raman Kumar Sah, and others, were present at the event.

Health department officials, including District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Deenanath, District Program Manager Mani Bhushan Jha, and Program Coordinator Jitendra Prasad, also attended. During the event, patients were encouraged to adhere to their medication schedules, follow medical advice, and complete their treatment duration. Speakers emphasized the importance of nutritious food alongside regular medication in the treatment of tuberculosis, noting that adequate nutrition plays a crucial role in recovery.

The collaboration between social and business organizations to provide nutritional support to TB patients was highlighted as a significant step towards the TB elimination campaign. The joint efforts of the health department and the Marwari Seva Samiti aim to provide essential nutritional assistance alongside treatment and strengthen the TB elimination initiative in the district.

On the other hand, the Bhagalpur district administration supplied relief materials to flood-affected families. Relief kits were distributed to 216 families at the flood relief camp in Mahashay Dudhri and 64 kits at Bal Niketan, totaling 280 kits.

Kundan Kumar, the Additional Collector of Disaster Management, oversaw the distribution of relief materials. The kits included essential items such as utensils, water pots, glasses, plates, cooking oil, soap, and clothing.

Considering the needs of flood-affected men and women, the administration also provided clothing. Women received sarees, while men were given lungis and gamchas.

During the distribution, Kundan Kumar assessed the facilities at the relief camp and gathered information about the needs of the families residing there. He instructed officials to ensure that flood-affected families receive the necessary assistance.

Present at the event were Mithilesh Kumar, the camp in-charge, Dilip Kumar, disaster management volunteers, and families affected by the floods.
