Minister Calls on New Government Employees to Serve with Integrity at Employment Fair 2026

Chennai, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Chennai hosted the 20th Employment Fair on September 19, 2026, where Minister of Communications and Rural Development Chandra Shekhar Pemmashani addressed newly appointed government employees. He urged them to engage in public service with integrity, empathy, and a commitment to continuous learning.

During his speech, Pemmashani congratulated the successful candidates and their families, highlighting the event as a significant milestone for thousands of young Indians who have secured government jobs following a rigorous selection process. He noted that over 51,000 candidates received appointment letters at this employment fair, bringing the total number of appointments under this initiative to approximately 1.275 million.

The minister emphasized that government jobs remain a major aspiration for many youth. He commended families for their support during the examination and recruitment processes. Reflecting on his own journey from a humble background to becoming a doctor, entrepreneur, and public representative, Pemmashani stressed the importance of dedication, adaptability, and lifelong learning.

He encouraged the new employees to learn from senior colleagues and to effectively utilize digital learning platforms and artificial intelligence tools to enhance their professional skills. Pemmashani also advised them to be prepared for postings in diverse regions, embracing new languages, cultures, and work environments. Such experiences, he said, build confidence and foster a deeper understanding of the country’s diversity.

Highlighting the human aspect of governance, he reminded the new employees that their decisions significantly impact ordinary citizens. What may seem like a routine administrative matter to an official could carry profound personal significance for a citizen.

Furthermore, Pemmashani urged the selected candidates to question outdated practices, independently verify facts, and avoid blindly following procedures. He stressed that the ability to make sound decisions and maintain integrity is essential for effective public service. Referring to India’s development since 2014, he pointed out advancements in mobile phone manufacturing, infrastructure development, railway electrification, and increased domestic production of defense equipment.

He revealed that defense exports have surged from approximately 600 crore rupees in 2013-14 to nearly 30,000 crore rupees in 2025-26.
