Jaisalmer, June 3: The landscape of border villages in Jaisalmer is set to change significantly. The Ministry of Home Affairs, under the Vibrant Village Scheme-2, has approved development projects for 30 villages located near the India-Pakistan international border.
This initiative aims to enhance infrastructure by providing roads, electricity, drinking water, healthcare, education, 4G mobile networks, television connectivity, and new job opportunities. These improvements are expected to elevate the living standards of residents in border areas.
District Collector Anupama Jorwal stated that the primary goal of this government scheme is to integrate border villages into the mainstream of development, prevent migration, and provide better facilities for the locals. A total of 184 villages have been identified for this initiative, with approximately 30 villages in Jaisalmer district earmarked for development. Each village will receive an investment of ₹9 million to establish smart classrooms, digital connectivity, and tourism circuits, thereby increasing local employment opportunities for youth.
The villages included in this scheme are from the Sam, Mohangarh, and Nachna blocks, with Sam block contributing the highest number of 26 villages. Notable villages include Kishangarh, Tejpala, Tanot, and others. Additionally, Bharewala village from the Nachna block and Shastrinagar, Bahla, and Bhutowala villages from the Mohangarh block are also part of the plan. Customized village action plans will be developed for each village, and coordination with local Border Security Force units will be established to facilitate the progress of development activities.
Anupama Jorwal mentioned that during a recent visit to Bikaner, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized prioritizing the development of border villages. He particularly highlighted the need to enhance mobile networks and job opportunities, enabling residents to lead better lives while contributing to national security.
The successful implementation of the Vibrant Village Scheme is expected to transform these border villages into centers of development, tourism, and self-reliance, rather than just being recognized as border areas. Improved facilities will make life easier for residents, allowing these regions to reach new heights of development.
