Lucknow, July 24: Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party and former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He claims that even BJP supporters are now disillusioned and embarrassed by the party’s actions. Yadav stated that those who have removed BJP flags from their homes, shops, and vehicles will soon also remove the party from their hearts and minds.
In a statement released on Friday, Yadav noted that while the BJP and its allies are attempting to tarnish the image of young protesters by sending their supporters among them, these individuals become irritated when labeled as “BJP supporters.” He accused the BJP supporters of feeling ashamed due to various incidents, including the alleged “donation theft” in Ayodhya, reported atrocities against girls in Delhi, violence against youth, threats to protesters in Mumbai involving false drug cases, and the alleged mistreatment of a grieving mother in the Lucknow fire incident.
Yadav remarked that even the BJP’s “paid and unpaid” supporters are now hesitant to come forward in light of public outrage. He pointed out that their WhatsApp groups are no longer as active as before, and they are avoiding public spaces. According to him, for the past 10-12 years, the BJP’s staunch supporters defended the party on every issue, even risking disputes with friends and acquaintances. However, they are now realizing their mistakes as they observe the party’s functioning.
The Samajwadi Party leader accused the BJP of undermining democratic institutions, misusing government agencies, increasing inflation, manipulating education and recruitment processes, conspiring against reservations, filing false cases against the opposition, and misusing bulldozer and encounter actions. He asserted that the “real face” of the BJP has now been revealed to its supporters, leading to a transformation of the so-called “Amrit Kaal” into a “Vish Kaal” for the party’s backers.
