Protests Erupt in Jaipur Against NEET Exam Leak

Jaipur, July 24: Protests against the NEET exam leak have spread from Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to Jaipur. A large number of students and candidates aspiring for competitive exams gathered near Patrika Gate at Jawahar Circle, demanding greater accountability in the examination system while chanting slogans against the leak.

On Friday, demonstrators carried banners and placards, calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and strict action against those responsible for the alleged leak.

The protest remained peaceful, with students reiterating their demands for a transparent investigation and a fair recruitment process.

Since June 20, student and youth organizations have been protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi against the NEET exam leak and irregularities. This movement has garnered support from various politicians, athletes, Bollywood celebrities, activists, student groups, and the general public.

Meanwhile, two prominent youth leaders from Rajasthan joined the ongoing movement in the national capital, which has been demanding Pradhan’s resignation and reforms to ensure a transparent examination system for nearly a month.

Independent MLA Ravindra Singh Bhati from the Shiv constituency in Barmer and former president of the Rajasthan University Student Union, Nirmal Chaudhary, visited the protest site to express solidarity with the demonstrators.

Their visit came just days after police used batons and tear gas against the protesters. Both leaders met with students, expressing their support and urging the NDA government to address their concerns through dialogue.

Following police and RAF action against protesters marching towards Parliament, the demonstrations intensified. The incidents in Delhi have sparked similar protests in several states, including Rajasthan.

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk ended his 26-day indefinite hunger strike late Thursday night after discussions with Union ministers JP Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh. He broke his fast by drinking juice in the presence of the ministers.

In light of these events, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished Wangchuk good health through a social media post. In a video message, the Prime Minister addressed the issue of exam paper leaks, outlining measures aimed at strengthening the fairness of the examination system, including strict legal provisions and fast-track courts for leak cases.
