UGC-NET: Advance City Intimation Slip Released for English, Commerce, and Sociology Re-exams

New Delhi, September 2: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the advance city intimation slip for candidates participating in the UGC-NET June 2026 re-exams. This slip provides information about the cities where candidates have been allocated exam centers.

The re-exams for UGC-NET June 2026 will cover three subjects: English, Commerce, and Sociology. Candidates can check their exam city by visiting the official UGC-NET portal. According to the NTA’s schedule, the re-exams for English and Commerce will take place on September 9, 2026.

The Sociology exam is scheduled for the following day, September 10. The English exam will be held from 9 AM to 12 PM, while the Commerce exam will take place from 3 PM to 6 PM on September 9. The Sociology exam is set for September 10 from 9 AM to 12 PM.

It is noteworthy that the NTA conducted the UGC-NET June 2026 exams from June 22 to June 30, 2026, across 87 subjects. However, due to numerous serious errors found in the question papers of these three subjects, the decision for a re-exam was made. Issues included language and spelling mistakes, as well as the repetition of questions from previous exams.

On August 16, the agency issued an official notice regarding this matter. Candidates reappearing for the exams will not be charged any additional fees.

Following a significant number of complaints about the English, Commerce, and Sociology question papers, the NTA formed a committee to investigate. The committee found various errors in the question papers, leading to the decision to conduct the re-exams.

The NTA clarified on Wednesday that the advance city intimation slip should not be considered an admit card. It provides candidates with information about the city where their exam center is allocated, allowing them to make travel and other necessary arrangements in advance. Detailed information about the exam center will be provided in the admit card.

Candidates can click on the relevant link for advance city intimation on the official UGC-NET website. After entering their application number and other required information, they can view and download their city intimation slip. The NTA has advised candidates to regularly check the official website for their admit cards and other important instructions before the exam. The release of the city intimation slip aims to provide candidates with timely information about their exam locations.
