New Delhi, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : In a tragic incident, former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh expressed profound sorrow over the death of Chongtham Vikram Singh, a well-known Manipuri music teacher and guitarist. Singh’s death followed an alleged assault in Kilokri village, located in southeast Delhi.
Biren Singh took to social media platform X to share his condolences, stating that Vikram Singh was a pioneer in Western music and his contributions to the music world would always be remembered. He emphasized that the untimely loss is a significant blow not only to Singh’s family but also to the entire music community in Manipur.
The former chief minister called for a thorough investigation into the incident and urged the Delhi police to take swift action against those responsible, ensuring that the victim’s family receives justice promptly.
In a subsequent post, Singh noted that Delhi police had arrested eight suspects in connection with the case. He praised the quick response from the Delhi Chief Minister and law enforcement, expressing hope that the victim’s family would soon see justice served.
According to police reports, the 54-year-old Chongtham Vikram Singh was residing in Kilokri village. Initial investigations revealed that he had opposed noise created by delivery personnel and dhaba workers outside his home. This confrontation allegedly led to a violent altercation, resulting in severe injuries.
Singh’s son, Yaifaba, rushed him to Holy Family Hospital for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Following the incident, authorities from the Sunlight Colony police station launched an investigation. Given the severity of the situation, an FIR was filed under murder charges, and all suspects, including some minors, were apprehended.
The police confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is underway, and further legal actions will be taken based on the evidence collected.
Chongtham Vikram Singh was highly regarded as a musician and teacher in Manipur. His passing has left a wave of grief across the music community and various social organizations in the region.
