Nepals Nuwakot District Thanks India for Flood Relief Amidst Devastation

Nuwakot, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : The Nuwakot District Administration in Nepal has expressed heartfelt gratitude to India for its timely assistance following severe flooding that has caused widespread devastation. Administrative officer Homanath Dahal emphasized the importance of support from neighboring countries during such crises.

Dahal noted that the flooding has inflicted heavy damage on schools, health centers, and hydroelectric projects. The district administration is actively engaged in relief efforts through a single-window system to streamline the distribution of aid. “We are collecting relief supplies through government channels and collaborating with numerous national and international organizations,” he said. Relief materials are being gathered at the district coordination committee building, with distribution based on recommendations from ward and municipal levels.

Highlighting the significance of India’s support, Dahal remarked, “It’s encouraging to receive such cooperation from our neighbors. For instance, your Prime Minister reached out to our Prime Minister, wishing for safety and a swift recovery for the victims. This kind of solidarity is crucial in times of crisis.” He further stressed the urgent need for relief supplies, as many school buildings, health institutions, and hydroelectric projects have been destroyed.

Dahal also lamented the extensive loss of agricultural land and pastures, making it difficult to assess the full impact of the disaster, including the number of missing persons. The local administration continues to work diligently to address the urgent needs of the affected population.
