Mumbai, April 15: Tensions remain high in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, following a violent dispute over a statue. This incident occurred in the Bankeganj area of the Mailani police station jurisdiction during a celebration for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.
On Tuesday evening, the situation escalated after reports surfaced that the statue of Dr. Ambedkar had been allegedly damaged. Local residents claimed that an unidentified individual had vandalized the statue, igniting public outrage. Protests quickly intensified, leading to a charged atmosphere.
The police reported that no prior permission had been obtained for the statue’s installation at the designated location. This lack of authorization led to objections from law enforcement, which further incited the crowd’s anger.
