Udaipur, August 18, 2026: The Zinc Smelter Mazdoor Sangh celebrated its 61st Union Day with enthusiasm. The programme began with a floral tribute to late B Chaudhary, followed by flag hoisting by chief guest Ambalal Salvi. Vivek Yadav, Head of the Zinc Smelter Unit, was the special guest at the programme.

Addressing the gathering, union general secretary Prakash Shrimali said the facilities provided to workers at Hindustan Zinc Limited are among the best in the country. He said the organisation has fulfilled the dreams of late B Chaudhary and added that it is the responsibility of workers to maintain unity and strengthen the organisation while working to further improve the facilities available to them.

He also said the government has implemented four labour codes and that workers must collectively consider the challenges arising from them and work towards finding solutions.

Unit Head Vivek Yadav said further progress would require joint efforts by the organisation and management. He said special attention would be given to safety and the environment along with expansion of production capacity.

Acting president of the Zinc Smelter Mazdoor Sangh, Mangilal Ahir, said organisations should work with a collective approach rather than focusing on individuals in a democracy.

He said Zinc Smelter Debari received the Chairman’s Award due to the discipline of workers, cooperation from the organisation, guidance from the management and support from villagers in nearby rural areas.

On the occasion of Union Day, workers honoured acting president Mangilal Ahir, general secretary Prakash Shrimali and Debari Unit Head Vivek Yadav by presenting them turbans and uparnas.

The programme was conducted by Arun Das. The gathering concluded with slogans including “Mazdoor Ekta Zindabad”, “Zinc Smelter Mazdoor Sangh Zindabad” and “Late B Chaudhary Amar Rahe”.
