Human Rights Group Condemns Pakistani Army for Enforced Disappearances in Balochistan
A human rights organization has condemned the Pakistani army for alleged enforced disappearances and civilian casualties in Khuzdar, Balochistan.

Khuzdar, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : A prominent human rights organization has sharply criticized the Pakistani army for its intensified military operations in the Jehrri area of Khuzdar district, Balochistan. On Friday, reports emerged alleging that a woman was killed and two others injured in a drone strike on residential areas. Additionally, 25 civilians have reportedly been forcibly disappeared.
According to sources from Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ), the drone strike resulted in the death of a woman who had gone to fetch water. The organization noted that confirming the identity of the deceased and the current condition of the injured remains challenging.
The human rights group further stated that Pakistani security forces allegedly detained 25 local residents, leading to their enforced disappearance. This incident occurred amid an ongoing curfew in Jehrri that has lasted for several months.
BVJ highlighted that mobile phone services have been suspended due to the curfew, severely disrupting communication with affected communities. This blackout has made it particularly difficult to obtain reliable information about those who have been forcibly disappeared, as well as those who have been killed or injured.
The organization condemned the targeting of civilians and the restriction of access to information and communication, calling for immediate and independent investigations into these serious human rights concerns. BVJ has urged the United Nations and international human rights organizations to investigate the reported abuses in Jehrri, demand information from Pakistani authorities regarding the whereabouts and safety of all missing individuals, and ensure the protection of civilians from further harm.
In another incident in the Turbat area of Balochistan, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) denounced arbitrary road closures that have hindered the movement of people. They criticized the violence inflicted on the public by the Pakistan Frontier Corps (FC).
The organization reported that roads in Turbat were blocked for several hours to provide VIP protocol to social media influencers and content creators brought in from Islamabad. This disruption caused significant difficulties for thousands, including schoolchildren, patients, doctors, hospital staff, and businesspeople.
BYC condemned the arbitrary road closures and the violence against civilians, stating that when patients and senior doctors raised concerns about the roadblocks, they faced aggression from the FC. One doctor was reportedly threatened with a rifle, and a pregnant woman was among those affected by the violence. In protest, staff and patients at Turbat Teaching Hospital boycotted their work, demanding an end to the curfew-like situation and action against officials who perpetrated violence against civilians.
The organization expressed deep concern over the use of resources to create a “fake narrative” in Balochistan, while ordinary citizens are confined to their homes and deprived of their basic freedoms of movement. The ongoing restrictions and pressure on civilian life in the name of security are deemed unacceptable.
