Udaipur : Preparations for the third Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon, to be organised by Hindustan Zinc on September 6, 2026, have gained momentum with the unveiling of its official jersey and poster. The event is set to begin from Field Club, Udaipur.
The launch event was attended by Udaipur Range Inspector General of Police Gaurav Srivastava, Joint Commissioner of Central GST Roshan Lal, Hindustan Zinc CEO and Whole-time Director Amarendu Prakash, representatives of Hindustan Zinc and Anybody Can Run, along with several dignitaries from the sports and social sectors.
Around 7,000 runners from 27 states and several countries participated in the marathon last year. This year, more than 5,500 registrations have already been received across the 21.097-km, 10-km and 5-km categories.
The marathon route will take participants through Udaipur’s lakes, the Aravalli range and historical landmarks. Professional athletes, first-time runners, families, students and corporate teams will participate under the message of ‘One Run, One Community’.
Gaurav Srivastava said the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon has become an important sporting event for Udaipur. He said the event connects people through fitness and community spirit while allowing participants to experience the city’s natural beauty and contribute to a social cause.
The launch programme began with the screening of a marathon film, followed by the unveiling of the official jersey and poster. Hindustan Zinc employees also shared their running journeys and inspirational experiences. The event concluded with an energetic drum-roll activity.
Amarendu Prakash said the Vedanta Zinc City Half Marathon represents the belief that sports can contribute to a healthy society, wider participation and positive social change. He said the event has evolved from being just a race into a celebration of Udaipur and its people. Through the ‘Run for Zero Hunger’ campaign, the marathon also aims to highlight how every step can contribute to a larger social purpose.
Organised jointly by Hindustan Zinc and Anybody Can Run, the marathon is AIMS-certified and affiliated with World Athletics. The main 21.097-km race will start from Field Club and pass through Fatehsagar Pal, Rotary Club, Sunset Point Park, Nehru Garden and Saheliyon Ki Bari before returning to Field Club. The 10-km and 5-km routes have been designed for participants across age groups.
The marathon is also contributing to Udaipur’s emergence as a sports and wellness tourism destination. Runners and their families from different parts of the country get an opportunity to experience the city’s lakes, heritage, culture and hospitality. Last year, participation increased by 40 per cent, and a higher turnout is expected this year.
Registrations for the September 6 marathon are open on the official digital platforms and will continue until the prescribed capacity is reached.
