Telegram Ban Criticized by Ajay Rai Amid NEET Paper Leak Controversy

Lucknow, June 17: Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai has criticized the central government over the NEET paper leak incident. He stated that the government has imposed a ban on Telegram to hide its failures. “This will not change anything; the public is aware of the government’s reality,” he said.

In an interview with a news agency, Ajay Rai remarked, “The government is attempting to conceal its failures. Incidents of paper leaks have occurred before, and merely banning Telegram will not solve the problem. This action seems to be an effort to cover up the government’s shortcomings. Ensuring transparency and accountability in the examination system is the government’s responsibility.”

Responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s meetings with students and his social media posts, Ajay Rai noted that Gandhi has consistently raised the issues faced by students and youth. Across the country, students and young people are expressing their concerns and frustrations. In this context, Rahul Gandhi is engaging with them and standing in solidarity.

It is noteworthy that Rahul Gandhi recently posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “Telegram ban— the government’s new tactic to prevent paper leaks. Instead of catching the thief, lock the door of the victim. The paper leak mafia is thriving under this government’s watch.”

Ajay Rai also questioned the three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the Ram Mandir donation controversy. He expressed doubts about the impartiality of the SIT, led by Vijay Vishwas Pandya, who has been embroiled in controversies before. Rai suggested that the investigation should be conducted under the supervision of a sitting High Court judge to ensure the truth is revealed and public trust is maintained.

He alleged that there are numerous questions regarding the use of funds raised for temple construction and that a fair investigation into land purchase and sale disputes is necessary. Rai emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should have taken cognizance of this entire matter. The Congress party has demanded a transparent and independent investigation to take action against the guilty.
