Mumbai, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Russian Deputy Consul General Alexander Fursov emphasized the significance of the personal relationship between President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in strengthening ties between India and Russia. Speaking at the Global Impact Forum 2, held in Mumbai, Fursov expressed his sentiments on the matter.
He noted, “The strong personal rapport between President Putin and PM Modi serves as a crucial foundation for India-Russia relations. Following their meetings, we typically observe positive advancements in bilateral relations.”
The forum, which focuses on cultural heritage and civilizational exchanges, features representatives from BRICS nations discussing various topics. It is being hailed as India’s first international soft power festival. The event includes panel discussions and workshops on Ayurveda, traditional medicine, dance, music, cinema, and tribal traditions, with nearly 500 delegates in attendance.
A special exhibition showcasing the historical and cultural heritage of St. Petersburg is also being held to connect with Indian audiences. Fursov explained that the exhibition presents the city’s history through architecture, literature, vitality, and internationality.
A notable aspect of the St. Petersburg exhibition is its historical ties with India. Fursov mentioned, “In 2027, we will celebrate 60 years of sister-city relations between St. Petersburg and Mumbai. This exhibition aims to present St. Petersburg as a new and attractive tourist destination for Indian travelers.”
He further highlighted tourism as a vital means of enhancing mutual understanding between the people of India and Russia. “The best way to understand a country and its people is to visit, explore its cities and heritage, and engage with locals. Tourism can play a significant role in fostering connections between the citizens of India and Russia, and St. Petersburg has the potential to become a special destination for Indian tourists,” Fursov stated.
The Global Impact Forum, taking place from September 5 to 6, 2026, was inaugurated by Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The forum centers on civilizational heritage and global cooperation among BRICS nations, promoting cultural dialogue and the philosophy of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.’ Hosted by AP Globale, it brings together representatives from BRICS countries and global leaders on a single platform.
