Shivpuri, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Shivpuri, a city in Madhya Pradesh, has emerged as a model for modern postal services in India. On September 5, 2026, Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, inaugurated the state-of-the-art main post office, marking a significant advancement in the country’s postal system.
During the event, new modern post offices in Guna and Gwalior were also unveiled. This initiative is part of the ‘Janseva Connect Post Office’ program aimed at enhancing service delivery.
The highlight of the new high-tech post office is its smart customer service system. Upon entering, customers receive a token and can wait comfortably in a designated waiting area until their number is displayed on a screen, directing them to the appropriate counter. This system is expected to alleviate long queues and overcrowding.
Postmaster Vishnupal Singh Yadav explained that the building has undergone a complete transformation. The number of service counters has doubled compared to the previous setup, allowing for faster processing of services such as speed post, savings bank, parcels, and insurance. The facility now features modern furniture, digital displays, and improved seating arrangements.
Built at a cost of approximately 30 lakh rupees, Shivpuri’s post office is not just a building but a glimpse into the future of postal services. According to the postal department, similar high-tech post offices will be developed in 40 cities across the country, ensuring citizens receive uniform quality services.
The post office is evolving from merely a place to send letters into a multi-service center for the public. With modern technology, quick service, and an enhanced customer experience, the Indian postal system is being tailored to meet contemporary needs. Shivpuri’s initiative is seen as a vital step toward the modernization of postal services nationwide.
