Hyderabad, August 21: The cancellation of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s proposed trip to the United States has raised questions from senior Congress leader V. Hanumanth Rao. He emphasized that this was not just a personal visit for the Chief Minister, but a significant initiative aimed at attracting investment, industry, and employment to Telangana. Rao has urged the central government and BJP MPs to intervene in this matter.
In a conversation, Rao stated that Chief Minister Reddy and Industry Minister D. Shridhar Babu were set to travel to the US from London, but their visa was not approved by the US government, leading to the trip’s cancellation. He noted that the Chief Minister is expected to return on August 23, questioning the rationale behind this decision.
Rao highlighted that Reddy has previously visited several countries, successfully bringing industries to Telangana. The state government is working to position Telangana as the top state in the country. Ambitious projects like Sports City are being developed, and the investment climate in the state is favorable. He raised concerns about why the US government halted the Chief Minister’s visit at such a crucial time.
He also pointed out that Telangana natives residing in the US have expressed interest in investing in the state, particularly in industry and skill development. The government is striving to attract more industries to create job opportunities for the youth. Previous foreign trips have already resulted in investments and new development prospects in areas like Ranga Reddy district.
Rao mentioned that some individuals claim the Chief Minister was scheduled to visit a university or institution that the US objected to. However, he argued that if this were the case, it should have been clarified during the visa issuance process. He found it perplexing that a visa was granted to a government delegation only to have the trip halted later, resulting in significant losses for the state.
He urged BJP MPs from Telangana to discuss this issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Rao stated that Modi often speaks of a ‘Developed India,’ suggesting that development should not be limited to North India alone. South India, including Telangana, should also be part of this vision.
Rao recalled a recent meeting with southern state chief ministers where Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the ongoing projects in Telangana. This raises the question of why the Chief Minister’s US trip was obstructed and who is responsible for this decision.
He asserted that politics should not interfere with development. While political differences exist, halting development adversely affects the future of youth and children. Without industries, jobs will not be created, hindering the state’s economic progress.
Rao noted that Telangana natives in the US were eagerly awaiting the Chief Minister’s visit, as they were preparing to invest in the state. This trip was seen as a vital opportunity for Telangana’s growth and job creation.
He concluded by stating that the central government should facilitate the rescheduling of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s US trip, aiming to attract 15-20 new industries to Telangana and generate significant employment opportunities for the youth.
Rao emphasized that politics should not obstruct Telangana’s development. A progressive state will strengthen the future of its youth, children, and the entire nation. The dream of a Developed India can only be realized if Telangana and South India develop at a similar pace.
