
New Delhi, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Khai on Saturday in New Delhi, on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit. The two leaders engaged in an extensive discussion aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation across various sectors.
Modi shared key insights from their conversation on his official X account. A significant emphasis was placed on deepening defense and security collaboration between India and Vietnam. They also discussed advancing the proposed 2+2 mechanism, which aims to bolster regular dialogue among top officials in defense and foreign policy from both nations.
The leaders explored opportunities for cooperation in emerging and strategic areas such as energy, rare minerals, and space. Special attention was given to collaboration in rare minerals, which are increasingly vital for industries related to modern technology, electronics, and clean energy.
On the trade and investment front, both sides discussed setting ambitious targets. India and Vietnam aim to elevate their bilateral trade to $25 billion by 2030. They also highlighted the need to boost two-way investments and create new opportunities for businesses.
Modi underscored the long-standing cultural and civilizational ties between India and Vietnam. He noted the deep historical connections and shared cultural heritage as significant strengths in their bilateral relationship.
The Prime Minister remarked that the ties between India and Vietnam are continuously strengthening, with Vietnam serving as a key partner in India’s Act East policy and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. He reaffirmed that Vietnam will always remain a crucial pillar for India.
Throughout the BRICS Summit, Modi continues to hold bilateral meetings with leaders from various countries, discussing issues related to trade, investment, defense, energy, and strategic cooperation.
