Jammu, May 22: Former DGP SP Vaid has expressed serious concerns regarding the Twisha Sharma death case. He emphasized the importance of immediate adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) by police and relevant agencies in such incidents. However, he noted that several mistakes were evident from the outset.
In a recent discussion, Vaid highlighted that the first step should have been to promptly inform the police about the incident. This would have allowed them to secure the crime scene, document it through photography and videography, and prevent the destruction of any evidence. Unfortunately, this protocol was not followed in this case, leading to numerous questions.
Vaid pointed out that video footage and CCTV evidence indicate that the deceased’s body was moved without notifying the police. This raises critical questions about the rationale behind such actions. He questioned why the police were not called immediately if the family or involved parties were innocent.
He also mentioned that a retired session judge, who is the mother-in-law of the deceased, has been implicated as a suspect but has already been granted anticipatory bail. Vaid insisted that all suspects should be taken into custody for questioning to uncover the truth. Often, thorough questioning can clarify the sequence of events.
He stressed the need for a detailed investigation into the roles of all parties involved. It is essential to examine the deceased’s mobile call records, significant contacts, and all aspects related to the incident. Even if this is a case of suicide, it remains crucial to understand why the crime scene was disturbed, why the body was removed, and why the police were not notified immediately. According to him, these questions deepen the investigation’s complexity.
Vaid described the case as tragic and alarming. Such incidents are unfortunate in the country, especially when a young girl dies under suspicious circumstances, leading to further controversies. He asserted that the police, judiciary, and administration must work with sensitivity and transparency in such cases. Society should be assured that the truth will not be concealed and that justice will be served to the guilty.
