Perth, July 28: The Boao Forum was held in Perth, Australia, on Monday. The theme of the conference was “Green Transformation: Towards a Shared Future for Humanity and the Planet.”
During the event, several representatives commended China’s achievements in green development. They emphasized that the world can learn significantly from China’s experiences in this field.
Christine Holgate, CEO of Australia’s Global Express, expressed her admiration for China, stating, “I am a huge fan of China. The country is making rapid strides in clean energy.”
She highlighted that the Chinese government has provided tax incentives for new energy vehicles to promote green transportation and has made substantial investments in charging infrastructure.
Tim Buckley, founder of Australia’s Climate Energy Finance Think Tank, noted that China has made remarkable progress in batteries, wind energy, and solar energy. David McAlister, CEO of the Australian Smart Energy Council, added, “China’s shift towards a green economy is crucial for the entire world. We should learn from China.”
The theme of “partnership” was central to the conference. Rice Roberts, chairman of the Australia China Business Council, mentioned, “We are utilizing Chinese solar panels, batteries, and vehicles. With the help of Chinese technology, we can give a new momentum to Australia’s economy.”
Andrew Forrest, executive chairman of Fortescue, pointed out that the mining, steel, and cement industries are sectors where Australia and China can collaborate effectively on green transformation.
In this context, Tim Buckley reiterated that Australia has immense potential for renewable energy, while China holds a strong advantage in supply chains and infrastructure. This presents an opportunity for both countries to develop a complementary partnership by leveraging each other’s strengths.
