New Delhi, July 28: The Chief of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, recently met with the Air Force hockey team to congratulate them on their outstanding performance. This team emerged victorious in the seventh edition of the Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament 2026.
During the meeting on Tuesday, the Air Chief Marshal praised the players for their excellent teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. He expressed that this victory is a matter of pride for the Indian Air Force and is a testament to the players’ hard work, dedication, and professionalism.
The Chief’s visit inspired the athletes to uphold the glorious traditions of the Indian Air Force both on and off the field. He expressed confidence that the Indian Air Force hockey team will continue its success at the national level in the coming years and serve as an inspiration for young athletes. The Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament is held in memory of the legendary warrior and India’s first and only Marshal of the Air Force, Arjan Singh.
This competition is considered a significant platform for promoting sports culture within the armed forces, nurturing talent, and encouraging a spirit of competition. In another event on Tuesday, the Indian Air Force Chief met with women officers who completed a global circumnavigation. These female military officers have made history through their journey. On July 22, after the completion of this expedition, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the military personnel who undertook the voyage.
The circumnavigation was accomplished entirely by female personnel from all three armed forces. The historic “Samudra Pradakshina” campaign was completed by a nine-member female team with the assistance of the IASV Triveni. The Air Chief Marshal congratulated them on their achievement. The team comprised four officers from the Indian Air Force, four from the Indian Army, and one from the Indian Navy.
This joint team successfully navigated approximately 25,500 nautical miles across four oceans in 314 days. The campaign, known as “Samudra Pradakshina,” is regarded as a historic global maritime circumnavigation undertaken by women from all three armed forces. Despite challenging sea conditions, changing weather, and prolonged durations, the team successfully completed the entire mission.
Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh described this achievement as a moment of pride for the nation, highlighting that the team demonstrated courage, patience, discipline, and exceptional professional capability. He noted that the campaign not only enhanced India’s honor but also showcased an excellent example of coordination and collaborative work culture among the three armed forces.
