Saharanpur, September 6 (Daily Kiran) : Ruchi Veera, a member of the Samajwadi Party, has voiced her support for AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi regarding the recent demolition of a mosque in Saharanpur. Speaking in Moradabad, she accused the Uttar Pradesh government, led by Yogi Adityanath, of targeting religious sites to distract the public from pressing issues.
Veera pointed out that if the mosque had been standing for over a century, the government could have taken the matter to the High Court instead of resorting to demolition. She questioned the necessity of such an action, emphasizing that there are numerous significant matters, including the NEET paper leak, that require government accountability.
She expressed her belief that the demolition was a deliberate attempt to shift public attention away from these vital concerns. “What was the need to tear down the mosque?” she asked.
The SP MP criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for claiming to uphold Sanatan Dharma, arguing that true Sanatan principles do not advocate disrespecting other religions. “The BJP cannot claim to be Sanatani if it fails to respect other faiths,” she stated, condemning the demolition.
Echoing Owaisi’s sentiments, Veera asserted that no individual has the right to insult another’s religion. She highlighted the importance of religious freedom for all communities living together, asserting that the actions of the Yogi government are unjust.
Referencing the Ram Temple issue, she noted that similar actions have not been taken against anyone involved in that matter, suggesting that the government is using such political maneuvers to divert attention from real issues affecting the populace.
Veera concluded by reiterating that her party denounces the demolition and the tactics employed by the government to shift focus from critical national concerns.
