
Lucknow, June 23: The investigation into the fire incident in Aliganj, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, is progressing rapidly. On Tuesday, a two-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrived at the scene. The team subsequently met with the injured patients admitted to KGMU to gather information regarding the incident.
The Uttar Pradesh Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has also collected crucial evidence from the site. SIT members, including Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism and Culture Department) Amrit Abhijat and ADG (Lucknow Zone) Praveen Kumar, inspected the entire building for over an hour.
Amrit Abhijat stated that various types of photographs of the site have been taken. Evidence is being gathered to expedite the investigation. Inquiries will also be made with individuals and departments related to the fire incident. Following this, the investigation report will be finalized.
ADG Praveen Kumar mentioned that the team conducted a thorough inspection of the site. The forensic team has collected all significant evidence, which will be used to question several individuals. Responsibilities of every department related to the incident are included in the scope of the investigation. Information will also be gathered from the victims of the fire. The investigation report is expected to be submitted to the government within the stipulated timeframe.
After leaving the site, the SIT also met with the injured at KGMU. The FSL Director, Aadarsh Kumar, and a team of experts collected vital evidence, including debris, burnt equipment, and wires.
Notably, upon receiving news of the accident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath canceled his visit to Aligarh to inspect the site. He also met with the victims at KGMU and subsequently directed the formation of the SIT to ensure strict action against those responsible.
The SIT is required to submit its investigation report within seven days. So far, four individuals have been arrested, and four officials have been suspended.
