Sheikhpura, April 14: Siraj Ansari, a resident of Rakad village in the Chewara block of Sheikhpura district, has become an inspiration for local youth. By leveraging the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), he has not only established a robust business but also provided jobs to eight local youths.
In an interview, Siraj shared his challenging journey. After completing his education, he moved from Bihar to Delhi in search of employment. He worked for nearly four years in a company until he lost his job during the COVID-19 pandemic and had to return to his village. Upon his return, he struggled to find suitable work, and his family’s financial situation worsened.
Faced with economic hardship, Siraj started a small tent house business in Chewara market. However, the low income made it difficult to support his family. During this time, a friend informed him about the PMEGP scheme, which is run by the Department of Industries. This initiative offers loans and government subsidies to help start new enterprises.
Siraj quickly contacted the industrial office and applied for the scheme in the name of his wife, Yasmeen Parveen. He received a loan of approximately 1 million rupees, which included a subsidy of 15 to 35 percent. This financial support helped him realize his dream.
With the loan and subsidy, Siraj established a large tent house warehouse near the New Bus Stand in Sheikhpura. What began as a small venture has now flourished. He is not only providing for his family but also offering regular employment to eight local youths.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Siraj stated, “The PMEGP scheme is a boon for the youth. I have become self-reliant by taking advantage of this scheme.” He urged all young people to utilize government schemes to start their own small businesses instead of wasting time searching for jobs elsewhere. This approach not only secures their future but also creates job opportunities for others.
