Quetta, August 28: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on Pakistani security forces in various regions of Balochistan. The organization asserts that these assaults resulted in the deaths of 11 Pakistani soldiers and two alleged state-supported operatives. However, these claims have not been independently verified.
According to a report by the Balochistan Post, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahar Ram Baloch stated in a media release that on August 22, the group’s fighters attacked a Pakistani army road security unit in the Kolwah-Gishkor area of Awaran district. The spokesperson claimed that five soldiers were killed and three others injured in this attack.
The BLF also alleged that vehicles used for road construction were targeted. Following the incident, the group claimed its fighters fired upon a military helicopter that arrived in the area.
On the same day, BLF fighters reportedly seized a police checkpoint in the Shirin-o-Farhad area. According to the statement, police personnel stationed at the checkpoint were detained, a Kalashnikov rifle and other equipment were confiscated, and the checkpoint, along with two police vehicles and a motorcycle, was set ablaze. The detained police personnel were later released.
The BLF further claimed that during a vehicle inspection at a blockade on the Bela-Zhao road, they killed two individuals identified as members of a “state-supported death squad.” The organization named the deceased as Mohammad and his son Zafar, residents of Waja Bagh, Zhao.
The statement indicated that weapons were seized from both individuals, and their motorcycle was set on fire. The BLF accused Zafar of involvement in criminal activities and collaboration with Pakistani military forces.
As of now, there has been no immediate official response from Pakistani authorities regarding the BLF’s claims, nor has there been independent verification of the casualty figures.
