Kolkata, August 27: Renowned Bengali actor Kharaj Mukherjee is currently stranded in Nepal due to heavy rainfall and flooding. He had traveled to Nepal for a film shoot, but adverse weather conditions disrupted the filming schedule, delaying his return. Initially, his family struggled to contact him, raising their concerns. However, they later managed to speak with him, and he assured them of his safety. His family is now eagerly awaiting his return home.
Kharaj’s elder brother, Shriraj Mukherjee, shared, “Kharaj went to Nepal for shooting on August 20. Continuous heavy rain prevented filming for two to three days. The bad weather disrupted the entire shooting plan, causing him to miss his scheduled return. We lost contact for a while, but we eventually spoke with him. He confirmed that he is safe amid the flooding.”
Shriraj added, “Kharaj is trying to return from Pokhara, Nepal, to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, and then he will head home. We pray that he reaches Kolkata as soon as possible.”
Kharaj’s sister-in-law, Saswati, also expressed her worries about the situation. She noted, “Kharaj traveled to Nepal on August 20 and planned to return by August 23 or 24. However, the heavy rain delayed the shooting, pushing back his return date. With reports of flooding in Nepal, our family’s anxiety has increased. While Kharaj is safe, our worries will not fully subside until he is back home.”
Kharaj Mukherjee is in Nepal for the filming of a movie in a remote area of Rasuwa district, close to the Nepal-China border. During the shoot, heavy rains began unexpectedly. The continuous rainfall in the hilly regions caused rivers to swell rapidly, leading to flooding and landslides in several areas.
The heavy rain and flooding have affected roads and bridges in many regions, making travel difficult. As a result, filming had to be halted, complicating the return for the cast and crew present there, which contributed to Kharaj’s delayed return.
Kharaj’s wife, Pratibha Mukherjee, is also in Nepal with him. According to the family, both are safe. The film, titled “Shikar,” also features actor Rajatabh Dutta, who completed his work earlier and returned before the adverse weather set in. The lead role in the film is played by actress Apoo Biswas.
