New Delhi, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : As the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections approach, political discourse has intensified around caste dynamics and alliances. Sanjay Nishad, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, responded to Om Prakash Rajbhar’s recent remarks about dividing the state into four parts and the possibility of appointing a Rajbhar community member as Chief Minister in the event of a new eastern Uttar Pradesh state.
Rajbhar suggested that a caste census could pave the way for such changes. In response, Nishad pointed out that if the selection of a Chief Minister is based solely on caste population, the Nishad community is significantly larger than the Rajbhar community. He noted that the Nishad population constitutes about 18% of the state and is present in regions with rivers and streams.
However, he emphasized that the primary concern for the state is development. Nishad praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for improvements in development and law enforcement under his administration. He argued that rather than dividing Uttar Pradesh, the focus should be on developing all regions, including Bundelkhand, Purvanchal, Paschimanchal, and the central areas. He stated that if there were clear benefits from dividing the state, it could be reconsidered, but for now, comprehensive development across Uttar Pradesh should be prioritized.
Nishad also highlighted the need to address regional disparities through targeted development rather than state division. He called for political parties to prioritize development over divisive politics based on region or caste.
In response to a comment by Swami Prasad Maurya, Nishad noted that India’s identity is rooted in its civilization and traditions. He referenced Lord Ram and the significance of maintaining dignity in public life, urging all public figures to fulfill their responsibilities within society.
Regarding Akhilesh Yadav’s proposed yatra, Nishad remarked that ideology is crucial in politics, and politicians should operate impartially. He pointed out the importance of integrating marginalized communities into the mainstream, linking this to constitutional principles that guarantee equal rights and social justice.
Sanjay Nishad also reacted to Asaduddin Owaisi’s remarks about forming alliances with like-minded parties to counter the BJP in the upcoming elections. He urged those political parties, founded in opposition to Congress policies, to clarify their current stance if they align with Congress now.
Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Nishad detailed his party’s strategy, stating that the Nishad Party is strengthening its organization across all 403 assembly constituencies. The party has begun preparations by dividing Uttar Pradesh into ten regions, with senior leaders and youth, women, and IT wings actively participating in each area.
Nishad aims to connect with Nishad voters in every constituency, noting their significant presence in urban areas and even more so in regions near water bodies. He claimed that Nishad voters could play a crucial role in influencing the outcome in approximately 150 to 160 assembly seats. Based on this, he has requested the BJP to allocate more opportunities to the Nishad Party in seats where the alliance previously faced challenges.
The Nishad Party intends to work with the BJP on these challenging seats, asserting that with proper organization and social alignment, they can convert these opportunities into victories.
