RRB Group D: Last Date Near for 21,997 Posts, 20% Quota for Apprentices

Mumbai, March 6 (Daily Kiran): The last date to apply online for 21,997 posts under the Railway Group D recruitment is approaching. Interested and eligible candidates can submit their applications for the RRB Group D recruitment only until March 9, 2026.

In this recruitment drive, 20 percent of the posts have been reserved for candidates who have completed apprenticeship training (CCAA) from railway establishments. Candidates with CCAA apprenticeship training will also be exempted from the physical efficiency test, meaning they will not have to participate in the running test.

According to the recruitment process, after qualifying the written examination, candidates are required to undergo a physical efficiency test. Male candidates must carry a weight of 35 kilograms and cover a distance of 100 metres within two minutes. They also have to complete a 1000-metre run within four minutes and fifteen seconds. Female candidates must carry 20 kilograms and cover 100 metres within two minutes, along with completing a 1000-metre run within five minutes and forty seconds. However, candidates with apprenticeship training will be exempted from the running requirement.

Reports indicate that the written examination may be conducted in October 2026.

Northern Railway (New Delhi) has a total of 3,537 posts, including 1,437 UR, 530 SC, 266 ST, 956 OBC and 348 EWS posts.

Western Railway (Mumbai) has announced 3,148 posts, including 1,160 UR, 407 SC, 178 ST, 698 OBC and 288 EWS posts.

Central Railway (Mumbai) has 2,012 posts, including 914 UR, 318 SC, 171 ST, 407 OBC and 202 EWS posts.

Northeast Frontier Railway (Guwahati) has 1,776 posts, including 718 UR, 266 SC, 133 ST, 480 OBC and 179 EWS posts.

South East Central Railway (Bilaspur) has 1,199 posts, including 516 UR, 184 SC, 76 ST, 281 OBC and 142 EWS posts.

North Eastern Railway (Gorakhpur) has 1,196 posts, including 537 UR, 178 SC, 109 ST, 271 OBC and 101 EWS posts.

North Central Railway (Prayagraj) has 1,183 posts, including 570 UR, 156 SC, 89 ST, 271 OBC and 97 EWS posts.

Eastern Railway/Metro Kolkata has 1,180 posts, including 468 UR, 157 SC, 129 ST, 297 OBC and 129 EWS posts.

West Central Railway (Jabalpur) has 1,147 posts, including 581 UR, 174 SC, 89 ST, 157 OBC and 145 EWS posts.

Southern Railway (Chennai) has 1,036 posts, including 430 UR, 155 SC, 96 ST, 247 OBC and 108 EWS posts.

South Central Railway (Secunderabad) has 1,016 posts, including 376 UR, 151 SC, 130 ST, 258 OBC and 101 EWS posts.

East Central Railway (Hajipur) has 976 posts, including 405 UR, 148 SC, 59 ST, 266 OBC and 98 EWS posts.

North Western Railway (Jaipur) has announced 974 posts, including 483 UR, 152 SC, 48 ST, 188 OBC and 104 EWS posts.

South Eastern Railway (Kolkata) has 955 posts, including 364 UR, 158 SC, 84 ST, 245 OBC and 104 EWS posts.

East Coast Railway (Bhubaneswar) has 803 posts, including 329 UR, 120 SC, 57 ST, 206 OBC and 91 EWS posts.

South Western Railway (Hubballi) has the lowest number of vacancies at 90 posts, including 51 UR, 14 SC, 8 ST, 14 OBC and 6 EWS posts.

RRB Group D CBT Pattern

The pattern of the written examination remains the same as previous years. The computer-based test will be of 90 minutes with a total of 100 questions. There will be 25 questions each from General Science and Mathematics, 30 questions from General Intelligence and Reasoning, and 20 questions from General Awareness and Current Affairs.

Negative Marking

In the RRB Group D CBT, one-third of a mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Minimum Qualifying Percentage in CBT

UR – 40%, EWS – 40%, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) – 30%, SC – 30%, ST – 30%.
