Lucknow, July 1: Om Prakash Rajbhar, the national president of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, extended birthday wishes to Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav with a sharp political jab.
In his congratulatory message, Rajbhar referred to it as a “birthday gift,” advising Yadav to move away from the politics of air conditioning and comfort and engage more with rural communities, the poor, farmers, and backward classes. He emphasized that there is no shortcut to connecting with the ground; one must walk the paths of villages and interact with the people.
Rajbhar took to the social media platform X to express his wishes, stating, “Heartfelt birthday wishes to Akhilesh Yadav Ji, the national president of the Samajwadi Party. I pray for your good health and long life. I pondered what gift to give you, considering your background as the son of a former Chief Minister and Defense Minister, and your own tenure as Chief Minister. What could we possibly offer you? However, given my age and experience, I can provide you with invaluable advice. Please consider this advice as my birthday gift to you.”
He continued, “The advice is to step out of your lazy and comfortable life as soon as possible. The sooner you abandon the politics of air conditioning, the better it will be for you. Get out of your comfort zone and walk the paths of villages. Engage with the non-Yadav backward classes, the poor, Dalits, and all sections of society. Participate in their joys and sorrows, and strive to understand the new Uttar Pradesh.”
Rajbhar added, “Do not just sit in an air-conditioned room watching videos about farmers and rural paths on Twitter. Go to the fields and understand farming firsthand. Yes, it may happen that initially, while walking on the paths, you might stumble or get pricked by thorns. You will also feel the heat and sweat, but with continuous effort, you will eventually grasp the true essence of village politics and its connection to state politics.”
He concluded, “There is no shortcut to connecting with the ground; one must tread the paths. Learn from me; I travel from village to village even in 48-degree heat. This is my sincere gift to you, and may God inspire you to walk the right path. Once again, heartfelt birthday wishes.”
