Delhi Chief Minister Orders Immediate Investigation into Alleged Corruption: Harsh Malhotra Responds

New Delhi, July 1: BJP’s state president, Harsh Malhotra, has countered allegations made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj regarding a purported ₹650 crore scam.

In an interview with a news agency on Wednesday, Malhotra stated that for perhaps the first time in Delhi’s history, a Chief Minister has taken the initiative to direct the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) to conduct an investigation into potential irregularities. He questioned which previous Chief Minister had ever taken such a step.

Malhotra also criticized the previous AAP government, claiming that it was involved in corruption during its decade-long rule. He alleged that there was no strict action taken against corruption cases during that time, while the current government is committed to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

He emphasized that the administration operates according to established rules and procedures. According to him, both the central and Delhi governments under the BJP are adopting a zero-tolerance approach to corruption, and no negligence will be tolerated in this matter.

Targeting Saurabh Bhardwaj, Malhotra accused him of presenting inconsistent figures. He questioned the source of these figures, especially since the ACB investigation has just begun. He also suggested that Bhardwaj might be in contact with individuals involved in the case.

Malhotra claimed that during the previous AAP government’s tenure, significant corruption occurred across various departments. He stated that as the investigation progresses, names of officials allegedly involved in corruption will emerge. He reiterated that if anyone is found guilty of corruption, strict legal action will be taken against them. He reaffirmed that the BJP government is committed to a zero-tolerance policy regarding corruption.
