Ranchi, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : In Ranchi, a special initiative is set to take place to add eligible youths who turn 18 by October 1 to the electoral rolls. Chief Electoral Officer Ravi Kumar has instructed all districts to identify these young individuals and ensure their registration through the designated process.
During a video conference with district election officials, Kumar reviewed the special intensive revision of the electoral rolls, the hearing of claims and objections, the registration of new voters, and the assessment of voter services. He specifically emphasized the need to examine polling stations where little to no Form-6 applications have been received for adding new voters.
Kumar urged officials to identify eligible youths through Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at these stations. Young individuals who will be 18 by October 1 and are not yet on the voter list should be registered using Form-6 and the necessary declaration.
He stressed that no eligible Indian citizen should be denied inclusion in the voter list. Kumar also directed effective monitoring of the entire process, from application and document verification to electoral data, to prevent any irregularities. Guidelines were issued for the hearing of claims and objections across districts.
To avoid crowding during hearings, a token system will be implemented. Applicants will be called in order, ensuring that everyone has ample opportunity to present their case. Decisions will be made based on a thorough examination of documents and facts. The prompt resolution of voter complaints was also highlighted as a priority.
District election officials have been tasked with timely addressing complaints received through the National Voter Service Portal (NVSP). Immediate action is also mandated for complaints received via the Election Commission’s ‘Book a Call’ service.
