Rajnath Singh Meets Sri Lankan Prime Minister to Discuss Development and Education

Colombo, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : On September 9, 2026, Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh met with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya in Colombo. The discussion centered on developmental cooperation and education, as well as various issues related to the strong cultural and civilizational ties between the two nations.

Singh emphasized that India and Sri Lanka share a democratic heritage and are close neighbors. He stressed the importance of working together to ensure peace and prosperity in the region through a shared vision of development.

Following the significant meeting, Singh noted that he exchanged views with the Prime Minister on several key topics, including developmental cooperation and cultural relations. Earlier that day, Singh met with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, where they discussed bilateral relations, defense cooperation, and regional security issues. Singh conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s best wishes to the President and congratulated him on the successful completion of two years in office. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to work together for mutual development and the welfare of their peoples.
