Jaipur, 29 August (Kiran News). The spell of rainfall continues in Rajasthan, with heavy showers easing in some places but monsoon activity still strong in the southern and eastern districts. On Thursday, Banswara received over 5 inches of rain, causing rivers and streams to overflow and affecting local movement. Intermittent rain was also observed throughout the day in the capital, Jaipur.

The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has issued a yellow alert for rain on Friday in the districts of Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jalore, Pali, Rajsamand, Sirohi, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, and Banswara. The monsoon is expected to remain active across the state for the next two weeks, with above-average rainfall possible until 10 September.
On Thursday, 135 mm of rain was recorded in Sajjangarh (Banswara), 67 mm in Kushalgarh, 110 mm in Dag (Jhalawar), 53 mm in Nainwa (Bundi), 31 mm each in Ramgarh (Alwar) and Sikrai (Dausa), 25 mm in Kumher (Bharatpur), 21 mm in Bari (Dholpur), and 51 mm in Digod (Kota). Additionally, several areas in Dungarpur, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Sikar, Sirohi, Tonk, and Udaipur recorded rainfall between 20 and 50 mm.
Continuous heavy rainfall in Banswara led to an incident in Jhallaara police station area where a teacher was swept away along with his bike while heading to school. In Badliyas police station area of Bhilwara district, two friends drowned while bathing in the river.
According to weather experts, rainfall activity will intensify in south-eastern Rajasthan (Kota, Udaipur divisions) from 29-30 August. Between 29 and 31 August, moderate to heavy rain is also likely in parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions. The current monsoon trough is passing through Ganganagar, Shivpuri, and Damoh up to the low-pressure system. Another trough line is active from Madhya Pradesh to southern Punjab, which will keep the rainfall spell going in Rajasthan for the coming days.
On Thursday, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded in Sirohi at 20.4°C, while Sriganganagar was the warmest with a minimum of 28.1°C. The minimum temperature in Jaipur was 26.1°C, Barmer 27.8°C, Jaisalmer 26.6°C, and Udaipur 24.4°C.
