Tehran, August 31: The Iranian military has claimed responsibility for a drone attack on the Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), targeting American military installations. This action is said to be a response to a prior attack by the US on Larak Island.
According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, Iranian state television cited a military statement confirming the drone strike on Monday. The military indicated that the attack specifically targeted areas of the Al Minhad base where American helicopters and personnel are stationed. Iran asserts that dozens of drones were deployed in this operation.
The statement also mentioned that this action was in retaliation for a US strike on Larak Island, located in the Strait of Hormuz, which reportedly resulted in casualties among military personnel and civilians.
The Iranian military emphasized that the drone attack on Al Minhad was a direct response to the US actions.
Additionally, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Monday to have launched a combined missile and drone attack on US air bases in Jordan. This was also a reaction to the airstrike on Larak Island that occurred the previous night.
Iranian news agency Fars reported that the IRGC targeted the King Hussein and Al-Azraq military bases in Jordan. The statement indicated that the attack focused on technical and maintenance structures, as well as areas where enemy fighter jets were stationed. The IRGC claimed significant damage resulted from this operation.
In their statement, the IRGC asserted, “Aggression and crime will not deter the Islamic Republic of Iran from maintaining control over the Strait of Hormuz. Every attack will be met with an even harsher and more destructive response.”
This drone strike follows a US operation that targeted two IRGC rocket launchers on Larak Island, a strategically significant Iranian location near the Strait of Hormuz.
