Bishkek, August 31: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, for the SCO Summit. Upon arrival at the airport, he was warmly welcomed by Adilbek Kasimaliyev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic. At the hotel, Indian expatriates also greeted him enthusiastically, presenting a vibrant cultural program in his honor. The yoga session, set to the tunes of “Vande Mataram,” was truly extraordinary.
During the grand event held in his honor, performers showcased remarkable yoga postures, from Gomukhasana to Virabhadrasana, demonstrating the harmony of India’s ancient heritage. This display highlighted how India inspires the world towards a healthy, balanced, and disease-free life.
Earlier, a similar event took place in Tashkent, where PM Modi participated in a special yoga session. He shared clips of the session on the social media platform X, showcasing a unique cultural connection between India and Uzbekistan. In Tashkent, he observed a special yoga presentation by 52 practitioners from Uzbekistan.
Following the session, PM Modi expressed his gratitude on X, stating, “You all showcased excellent yoga, with participants of all ages. I thank my friend, the President, for connecting Uzbekistan with yoga.”
This special yoga session also included six members from Uzbekistan’s Yoga Federation, who represented their country at the inaugural World Yoga Asana Championship held in Ahmedabad in June 2026. These practitioners achieved remarkable success on the international stage, securing a total of 18 medals, including one gold, 14 silver, and three bronze.
The 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit is taking place from August 31 to September 1 in Bishkek, hosted by Kyrgyzstan and chaired by Sadir Japarov. The conference celebrates the 25th anniversary of the SCO.
This year’s theme focuses on “Moving Forward Together for Sustainable Peace, Development, and Prosperity.” Leaders from ten member countries, including India, China, Russia, Pakistan, and Iran, are participating in the summit.
PM Modi traveled to Kyrgyzstan after completing a two-day visit to Uzbekistan. Upon arrival, he announced on X that he has reached Bishkek and will engage in bilateral meetings with various world leaders over the next two days.
