
Tel Aviv, February 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Israel for a two-day visit. He was warmly welcomed at Ben Gurion Airport by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife, Sara Netanyahu. Modi received a guard of honor upon his arrival. This marks Modi’s second visit to Israel in the past nine years, the first being in July 2017. Netanyahu shared a video clip on X, showcasing his enthusiastic welcome for his “friend,” PM Modi.
In his post, Netanyahu wrote, “Welcome my friend PM Narendra Modi.” The clip features Netanyahu and his wife extending their arms to greet the Indian Prime Minister.
Netanyahu’s official post on X described Modi’s visit as historic. Subsequent posts outlined Modi’s schedule during his stay.
As part of his itinerary, Modi is set to address the Knesset, making him the first Indian Prime Minister to do so. He will also participate in an event with the Indian community and attend a technology exhibition.
An official welcoming ceremony will be held for PM Modi at the Knesset (Israeli Parliament). In the evening, an official dinner will be hosted for him at the King David Hotel.
On Thursday morning, Modi and Netanyahu will visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Center, a common stop for visiting heads of state. Following this, they will hold a significant meeting at the King David Hotel, where they will exchange previously signed agreements and issue a joint statement to the media.
PM Modi is expected to depart for India at 2 PM on Thursday.
During this visit, discussions are anticipated regarding defense deals between India and Israel, including drones and anti-ballistic missile systems. Netanyahu expressed his eagerness for Modi’s visit earlier this week.
The Israeli newspaper, The Jerusalem Post, featured a special front page welcoming PM Modi. It showcased a picture of him with the word “Namaste” in Hindi, alongside “Shalom” in Hebrew, which means hello or peace.
