PM Modi Shares Sanskrit Wisdom on Social Media

New Delhi, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media platform ‘X’ on Tuesday to share a profound Sanskrit verse. The verse is from Chapter 8, Verse 10 of the Srimad Bhagavatam, a revered text in Hindu philosophy.

The verse states, “Aṇubhyascha mahadbhyascha śāstrebhyaḥ kuśalo naraḥ. Sarvataḥ sāramādadyāt puṣpebhya iva ṣaṭpadaḥ.” In English, this translates to: “A wise and skilled person should extract the essence from both minor and major scriptures, regardless of their subject. Just as a bee gathers nectar from various flowers, one should absorb the best and most useful knowledge from every source.”

This teaching is derived from the Avadhut Gita, where the sage Dattatreya shares his insights with Yadu Raja. He emphasizes that he has learned from 24 gurus in nature, illustrating the importance of wisdom. The verse highlights that the vastness of knowledge is infinite, and it is impossible for an ordinary person to fully comprehend all scriptures. A wise individual focuses on grasping the core message rather than getting lost in the details.

Dattatreya encourages accepting knowledge from any source, whether it be a minor text or a significant Upanishad, and regardless of the speaker’s stature. He warns against getting bogged down by rigid interpretations and debates that distract from the ultimate goal of devotion and self-realization. This verse serves as a reminder to prioritize valuable knowledge that enhances our lives.
