New Delhi, September 8 (Daily Kiran) : Iran is undergoing a significant shift in its strategy concerning US military operations, according to Mohsin Rezaei, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. He stated that the country has implemented fundamental changes to its approach towards American warships and military bases. Rezaei emphasized that these new missile capabilities have already been observed by Washington, serving as a warning.
In a recent post on the social media platform X, Rezaei asserted that if the US continues its economic pressure or warfare against Iran, the Persian Gulf will see the establishment of a maritime exclusion zone, expanding the scope of any blockade.
He elaborated that the military strategy regarding US naval forces has been fundamentally altered. Rezaei claimed that Iran recently tested an indigenously developed anti-destroyer missile, marking a first in targeting an American aircraft carrier. He characterized this development as a sign that the US naval blockade is vulnerable.
“This particular missile has created a challenging situation for the Americans, forcing them to retreat,” he noted.
Just a day prior, Rezaei announced that Iran plans to declare a restricted area outside the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days. He warned that any vessels attempting to navigate this zone without coordination with Tehran would be placed on a sanctions list.
The restricted area will begin where the US naval blockade is established and will extend to the Strait of Hormuz, reaching further into the Persian Gulf. Rezaei indicated that vessels entering this area without prior coordination may face sanctions affecting their insurance coverage and future passage through this critical waterway.
He framed this initiative as part of Iran’s broader strategy to apply pressure on the United States, indicating a shift in both military and diplomatic tactics.
